We’ve been approached by the CEO of Buddy Platform Inc (http://www.buddy.com), offering the use of Buddy’s services for the African Solar Taxi project.
Buddy provides data management services which enable devices & objects to automatically send data to Buddy’s servers, where the data can be stored, analysed and visually presented.
We hope to use Buddy to store data about the location and speed of our Taxi, and the state of charge of the batteries in the Taxi and in our solar charging stations. A mobile phone will provide the data connectivity and GPS functionality, and might also serve as the Taxi’s dashboard computer and display.
This approach will enable the driver, the trial staff in Zimbabwe and the technical support staff in Australia to easily monitor the health and performance of the vehicle and charging infrastructure, in real time.
It makes our infrastructure “Internet of Things” (http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_of_Things) enabled.
